October’s been full of small experiments that have made me get excited about my art again. My Creative Hug project, a loose structure built around a “word of the week” and a larger project, has given me that nudge I've needed. Each word sparks fresh activities, readings, or just little shifts in how I see things. I've been watching
leaves fall into puddles, shadows form on walls and paint drip randomly.
If you’d like to join in for November, you’ll get:
- four weekly word prompts (carefully chosen for the season),
- short notes and ideas for exploring them,
- suggestions for reading or watching if you want to go deeper.
In November I’ll also be sharing my take on mindful photography, how to use your camera or phone to reconnect with the present moment.
Each week I write a blog diving into the meaning and etymology of my chosen word. It’s surprising how much story a single
word can hold. And what creativity this word has led to.
👉 Week 1 - Curiosity
👉 Week 2 - Mystery
👉 Week 3 - Serendipity
Week 4 will be posted early next week.
(the word this week is 'liminal' which is like revision for me as I did my thesis for my MA Fine Art on liminality and is quite resonant at this time in the year and this time in history).
